"Snorkelling is a fun activity that can really make a holiday come alive. It's a catch all term that encompasses
many different activities when you become more involved, but at its most basic and often most rewarding, its as
simple as donning mask, fins and snorkel and escaping into the shallows. It's here the magic begins." Steve Warren
Snorkelling is the simplest and cheapest way of visiting the under sea world and therefore some people may look
down upon it as a 'poor persons' version of 'proper' diving. Such condescension is unwarranted as some of
the most vivid under water experiences may be had in the first few metres that lie beneath the seas surface and these
sights can be accessed by almost anyone with the minimum of equipment.
As no noisy bubbles are blown the humble snorkel may, on occasion, outscore scuba equipment as it will allow
one to get closer to shy marine life.
We can offer two BSAC certified courses in snorkelling:
The first course, Basic Snorkel Diver, is an initial introduction to the fundamental snorkelling equipment of mask, fins and snorkel.
The subsequent course, Snorkel Diver, will lead you through a further awareness of the equipment, safe snorkelling, the effects of water pressure
on your breathing and buoyancy, signals and self-help.
In order to be eligible for either of these courses you do have to be a member of both BSAC and Bedford Scuba Divers the fees for which
may be found on the Training page.
